In 1987 a classical recording label was started in Hong Kong with the intention of producing reliable digital recordings of the classics at a price everyone could afford. A quarter of a century later, it has become the leading provider of classical music across the globe.
This fascinating story has been brought to life through an enhanced ebook edition of The Story of Naxos. It features thirty-three audio samples from the Naxos list, including Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 played by the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and an extract from the audio edition of Jane Austen’s Emma, read by Juliet Stevenson. The Story of Naxos by Nicolas Soames offers a unique insight into the workings of a classical record label.
