Terms & Conditions – Carolyn Jess-Cooke Book Trailer

Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully. They are here for your protection as well as ours and you will have to agree to abide to them before you can enter the competition.

•  This competition is for the best film trailer for The Boy Who Could See Demons by Carolyn-Jess Cooke (the Book), published by Piatkus.

•  Entrants must make a trailer for the Book and post it on the Carolyn Jess-Cooke facebook page. No other form of entry to the competition will be accepted. If clips are attached to emails sent to us they will be locked and/or deleted immediately

• The trailer must be from 60 seconds to 120 seconds in length and must comprise your own original work. It must not use any material which is defamatory, obscene or in any way offensive or unlawful. You have permission to use the music supplied but you must not include material in which other people own the copyright such as music, photographs, film footage or include others’ brand names or trademarks.
• The trailer should open and close with the book jacket and the following text must be included:

My name is Alex.
I'm 10 years old, I like onions on toast, and I can balance on the back legs of my chair for 14 minutes.
I can also see demons.
My best friend is one.
He's called Ruen.
He likes Mozart, table tennis, and bread and butter pudding.
My mum is sick. Ruen says he can help her.
Only, Ruen wants me to do something really bad.
He wants me to kill someone.

• The winner will be selected by employees of Little Brown Book Group and the author (The Judges) from the entries received in accordance with Paragraph 2, 3, 4 and 11

• The Winner’s trailer will be posted on the Piatkus website, the Little Brown website, our Facebook pages and if we so decide, on and any other social networking sites or retailer websites which we deem suitable. We will try to include the name of the entrant but this may not always be possible. Entering this competition will be taken as your agreement that your entry can be used in this manner.

• The winner will see their trailer used as part of the publisher’s book promotion and will receive £100 worth of books published by Little Brown Book Group.

• The Judges’ decision is final.

• The prizes are not transferable and there is no cash alternative.

• There is no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

• The competition opens at 5pm GMT on 9 February 2012 and closes at 5pm on Tuesday 17 April BST 2012 (the Closing Date). Any entries received outside these specified times and dates will not be eligible for entry into the competition.

• The competition is open to all residents in the UK and Ireland aged 18 or over except employees of Little, Brown Book Group Limited, their families, or anyone professionally connected to the competition either themselves or through their families.

• Only one entry per person allowed. Second of subsequent entries will be disqualified. Entries will not be accepted via agents, third parties or in bulk

• Little, Brown Book Group is not responsible for contacting or forwarding prizes to entrants who provide unclear or incomplete information or for entries lost misdirected, delayed or destroyed.

• The promoter is Little, Brown Book Group Limited, 100 Victoria Embankment, London EC4Y 0DY

• The Promoter reserves the right to alter the prizes or cancel the completion without notice.

• The Promoter reserves the right to amend the specification of the prize although every effort will be made to provide a prize of similar quality and value.

• The winner will be notified via Facebook within one week of the closing date – and will be asked to supply full postal address in order to receive their prize.

• By entering the competition each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
